Hello everyone. My name is Tim Smith and I am going to tackle the Orioles organization for Prospects1500.
I was born and raised in Baltimore and am a life long Oriole fan. I’ve lived through horrible teams in the late 80’s, good teams in the 90’s, horrible teams again in the 00’s, and currently am enjoying another up swing in the O’s fortunes. During the lean years in the late 80’s/ early 90’s I developed a fascination with minor league baseball and the promise that the next wave of prospects inevitably held.
I’ve been playing Fantasy Baseball since high school, so for almost 20 years. I am in two intense dynasty leagues, the deepest has 18 teams with 40 man major league rosters and 100 man minor league rosters. A whopping 1800 prospects are rostered. A deep understanding of all farm systems is a major plus. I am looking forward to delving deeper into the Orioles system and uncovering some gems. I have always been a fan of their system and player development program. I live within an hour of four different minor league ballparks, which means I’ll get a chance to catch several top prospects in action this summer.
In my real life I am a high school English teacher and Athletic Director at a small private school. I have an amazing wife and two children under the age of 2.
