Ryne Alber (Red Sox)

I was born and raised in south Jersey before moving to Texas in 2003. I graduated from Baylor University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s in Secondary Math Education and am currently serving my fourth year as a math teacher at Waco High School. I got into education because of my love of sports, and I thought I would be coaching at some point, but I honestly love my job as an educator and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Well, except maybe sitting at home in my robe and slippers writing about baseball.

It has always been a dream of mine to be involved in professional sports in some way, shape, or form. As a 5’9″, 160-pound fully grown adult, I think it’s safe to say that playing in professional sports was not the way for me to get involved. I’ve been playing in a serious dynasty baseball league for eight years and counting, and I am in “The Wood, the Abad, and the Uggla” league with a few fellow Prospect1500’ers here (go WAU Pirates!). My obsessive-compulsiveness has turned me into a vacuum for prospect info on the web, and if I didn’t have so many things going on, I’d get out and see more games.

I was named after my dad’s starting second basemen on his STRAT-O-MATIC team back in 1991, and before I even knew what baseball was, I was fighting over whose turn it was to use the Red Sox blanket on movie night. It’s safe to say I’m a full-fledged fantasy baseball nerd, so much so that I don’t even find myself rooting for a particular team anymore (some of you just spat on your computer screens, I’m sure). I enjoy the sport and the numbers behind it, and I like staying as unbiased as possible in my fantasy analysis. I recently starting blogging at The Dynasty Guru and I absolutely love it there, and I can’t wait to see what Prospects1500 has in store. When the opportunity to write for Prospects1500 arose and I saw that a Red Sox writer was still needed, I jumped at the opportunity, and I thank the creators of this site for this awesome opportunity. I love to interact with my readers, so please feel free to leave any comments, questions, or critique, or email me at ryne.a.alber@gmail.com! Go Red Sox!
